Essential Conversations: Purposeful Leadership: Convening in Organizations & Systems

Your Organization, Your Community is a Forest: Make It Thrive

Is your organization / community a forest?  Is it growing, thriving, and set up to last generations?
In this talk, Vikas Narula, will discuss the incredible parallels between forests and organizations and how to know if yours is thriving or not (beyond just financials).
Combining technology, real-time experiential exercises, with cutting-edge research in the field of leadership, team development, and forest ecosystems, Vikas takes his audience on a journey into the forest of the workplace, community, and beyond.
Leave this session feeling empowered, renewed, and illuminated.  Come away with clear, actionable steps to make your life and organization richer and more vibrant.
Grow the forest – in your life, work, and neighborhood.

Vikas and Priya Narula have created an innovative solution through co-founding Keyhubs and Neighborhood Forest.

Vikas was introduced to the concept of informal networks – that while we work in hierarchies, real work happens through the web of human connection. Mapping and understanding that web can help organizations and leaders do better.

Vikas decided to rekindle his college love of giving trees to schoolchildren and started Neighborhood Forest. It has turned into a family affair with his wife, Mom, brother, sons (and dog!) involved in running and growing the program.

How are these programs connected? The vision and philosophy of each entity are connected through the honoring of life and the wisdom of everyday people. In work and life, we are surrounded by formal and informal structures and networks. Understanding the power and wisdom of human networks, connection, and awareness of self and others is a crucial leadership attribute.

As the lungs of the world, trees, can be seen as a bother, a resource, or a nice decoration. Trees are actually the original network of life, transmitting information, transforming the environment around them. Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.

Keyhubs® is a software and services company specializing in the power and wisdom of human networks, connection, and awareness of self and others.

Vision & Mission: Our vision is to create more joy in the world by fostering and inspiring greater, more meaningful connection and awareness of self and others – in the workplace, in communities, and beyond.

We provide leaders with dynamic, real-time awareness of self and others through innovative software and services that drive stronger leader, team, and company outcomes.

We love trees! We want to give every child the priceless joy of planting and watching trees grow.

By doing so, we will beautify our neighborhoods, put a significant dent in our carbon footprint, and help instill in the hearts of our little ones a sense of magic, wonder, and love for our planet.

How it works: Schools, libraries, and youth groups enroll in our program. Parents sign-up to get a free tree for their child ahead of Earth Day. Trees for kids are distributed, via the school, library, or youth group to plant with their family during Earth Week (April 22-30).
